Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Roomcy is a technology platform that connects room owners (landlords) with people looking to rent rooms (renters), and lets a renter pay rent or deposit directly to the owner's own linked UPI ID / bank account using an integrated payment link (via secure third-party payment gateways or any UPI app). Roomcy is a facilitator only — it does not hold, collect, or act as a party to any rent transaction, and is not a marketplace selling physical products. The one exception is Roomcy Pro (section 5 below), a paid service fee that Roomcy itself charges and receives, for which this policy's refund terms are different from the sections below.
1. Booking requests
A booking request sent through the app is only a request. It can be cancelled or withdrawn by the renter at any time before the owner accepts it, at no cost. Once an owner accepts a booking, the rental agreement, move-in date, rent, and deposit are a matter directly between the owner and the renter — Roomcy is not a party to this agreement and does not guarantee any tenancy.
2. Online rent/deposit payments (UPI)
- When you pay rent or deposit through the app, the payment goes directly from your UPI app to the room owner's own UPI ID. Roomcy does not receive, hold, or route this money at any point.
- Because the payment is a direct UPI transfer between you and the owner, any refund of the rent/deposit amount itself is between you and the owner, the same as it would be for an offline/cash payment — Roomcy has no ability to reverse or refund a payment it never received.
- Failed or duplicate transactions (money debited from your account but not reflected, or charged twice) are a UPI/bank-level issue, not a Roomcy-level one. Please raise this directly with your UPI app or bank support — under NPCI's UPI dispute rules, failed transactions are auto-reversed within a few business days (usually 5-7 working days). Roomcy will assist by providing the transaction reference (UTR) from the app if needed.
3. Cancellations after payment
If you and the owner mutually agree to cancel a booking after a rent/deposit payment has already been made, the refund of that amount is arranged directly between you and the owner (since the money went to their account, not Roomcy's). We encourage both parties to communicate and settle this promptly and fairly.
4. Disputes
If an owner or renter behaves unfairly (e.g. a room is misrepresented, or a payment dispute isn't resolved between the two parties), you can report it to us using the in-app "Report" option or by emailing us below. We will review the report and may take action against the account (including removal from the platform), but Roomcy does not arbitrate the underlying rent/deposit dispute itself.
5. Roomcy Pro (room-search service fee)
When you post a room requirement, a Roomcy Agent finds and sends you your first matching room free of cost. Roomcy Pro is an optional paid service — unlike rent/deposit payments above, this payment goes directly into Roomcy's own account, not an owner's, because it is Roomcy's own fee for the Agent's search work.
- What you get: a fixed number of additional rooms (shown on the purchase screen, currently 5) that a Roomcy Agent finds and confirms for you, each with full address and owner contact details.
- Room turned out wrong: if a room sent to you is already taken, or its details were materially wrong, and our Agent marks this as confirmed, that room is not counted — your credit for it is automatically restored to your balance at no cost to you, and you don't need to request this separately.
- Unused credits: credits do not expire and carry forward to your next room request if your current one is cancelled or closed before you use them all.
- Refund before any room is sent: if you change your mind and have not yet received any room through Roomcy Pro, write to us at roomcy.help@gmail.com within 24 hours of payment and we will refund the full amount.
- Refund after a room is sent: once at least one Roomcy Pro room has been sent to you, the payment is non-refundable in cash — any wrongly-sent room is still credited back as described above, and you may keep using remaining credits on a future request.
- Failed or duplicate payments: if money was debited but credits were not added, or you were charged twice, email us with your payment reference (UTR) and we will verify and correct your credit balance or refund the extra amount within 5-7 working days.
